About Amanda Johnson

Accumulating over 30 years of education and experience, Amanda brings much to the forefront of helping others as an intuitive practitioner and owner of a wellness floatation center.  From an early career in EMS, various aspects of human services, sales and marketing, medical assistant and medical office manager, her compassion is in every detail. Many volunteer opportunities (Hospice, ARC, 4H leader, Master Gardener) have also created a deep understanding of human needs.  Amanda's greatest joys are in assisting others along in their journey of discovery and wellness.

Amanda has always been a busy person, and when she had children, that didn't change. While raising two daughters she has also found herself volunteering with the school district, dance team, show choir, color guard, DA Dance, Panos Dance, Ballet Des Moines, Nolte Academy, and the local Music Boosters. These roles have included simple chaperoning, backstage supervision, and emergency costume repairs to costume design and creation. She has served on the Child Abuse Prevention board and the 4H County Council.

After completing her bachelor's degree in psychology, Amanda has spent over 15 years working with children and families in crisis. She has taught parenting skills, life hacks, and how to be happier functioning families. Amanda has also worked with runaway and homeless youth to provide safe environments and advocate for the rights of all involved. These services often include a focus on the prevention and treatment of drug and alcohol addiction.

Amanda started her career in Human Services, but discovered a passion in life was bringing the ideas of others into reality through graphic design. For 13 years she owned and operated Stampede Graphics, offering design, vinyl graphics, and promotional marketing materials. It was her greatest joy to help business owners grow their business and achieve their dreams through her work.

Amanda has also worked as a medical assistant and office manager in a sole practitioner holistic osteopathic family practice for over five years.  In this role, she was able to bring together her backgrounds and people skills gained from years of EMS, human services, retail marketing and parenting to better serve patients and other service providers. She found it rewarding to work along with the practitioner to assist patients understand and make informed decisions regarding their health care.

Amanda found passion with floatation.  She is the founder of a floatation therapy center in Southeast Iowa. After struggling with chronic pain and debilitating symptoms of fibromyalgia for many years, Amanda found relief in floatation therapy. She made it her mission to bring this life-changing experience to as many people as possible, opening the 2nd commercially available floatation center in the state of Iowa in 2015. Amanda's passion is helping others find relief from their ailments and improve their overall wellbeing.

The vast benefits it offers to so many people have continued this passion, with the addition of intuitive healing services in 2021. The float center participated in the 2015-2016 fibromyalgia floatation study. Sponsoring MMA fighters, as they train and prepare for fights, has been an interesting way to promote the health and healing benefits of floating. Working with veterans allows her to give back to those who have given so much. She currently hosts clients from age 4 to age 94.

Since the death of her first husband, Amanda has relocated back to Iowa from Upstate New York. Reinforcing values in family, familiarity, and faith have been essential in helping her move forward. The reality of starting over and re-establishing her career and social networking has allowed her to become a strong advocate for others. She is grateful for the lessons she has learned regarding respect and appreciation of life and the offerings available to everyone.

After divorcing with two children, Amanda has a unique understanding of the needs and functions of individuals. She's always been interested in helping others to grow and develop into their best selves. After experiencing a personal transformation of her own, Amanda felt driven to help others in a deeper way. She learned the process of theta healing- an intuitive technique that helps identify and release limiting beliefs. Through multiple sessions, Amanda helps her clients peel away layers of their onion to become their most complete selves.
